Hi, everyone. As you know, I’m Qiana, and my family and I moved to South Carolina for a better life. Well, over the past few years, it’s been up and down for us—more down than up—but I will not give up.
I am coming before you, writing this today, September 25, 2026, because times are all the way down for me and my family.
A lot has happened in the past week. On Sunday, September 20, we got kicked out of the hotel where we had been staying since July 12, because I wasn’t able to pay for the room. The manager also put me on the do-not-rent list, so when I sold my laptop to get the money for a new hotel room, I wasn’t able to rent from any other hotels.
On Monday, I sent my son to school, and they called DSS on me. Now my eight-year-old son is living with a complete stranger. I got the hotel room the same day the DSS worker came to speak to me, but that didn’t matter, and they kept my son from me. I haven’t seen my baby since Tuesday. We have no family here, and my only friends here are Matt and his family.
In order for my son to come back into my care, I have to stay in the current hotel consistently for 45 days. My family is in need of help paying for the room from September 26 until October 3. I start my new job on Tuesday, and I will also get my check on October 3, so I will be able to maintain the room where we’re currently staying.
My family and I are really in a terrible situation. One of us has been separated from the bunch, and it has caused so much pain for all involved. Please help me remain in this hotel by donating today, so my son can come back to me and our family can be whole again.
I’ve fallen on hard times before, but this one is different. This one involves my son, and as a parent, I pray that someone hears my cry and will help me.
