Thanksgiving and Gratitude

‘Tis the season to be thankful for the many blessings bestowed upon us from on high…and down low. As I sit here and reflect upon the ways of God and his many blessings to be thankful for, I am overwhelmed and would end up writing a small book to proclaim my gratitude and thankfulness to God Almighty for what He has done for my wife and I.
To begin my list of thanks to God, I would have to place my wife first, for, “He who findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtains favour of the LORD,” (Proverbs 18:22). God has led me to this city (Asheville) after answering the prayers of my heart, and has given me the best thing I have asked for this year, and though it took me by surprise (smile), I am so thankful to have her as my help mate and for keeping me warm this winter! I am thankful to God for His Word, for without it my wife and I would not know the Truth of God, and become stronger in Him…
As for down below, I would like to thank the many organizations, companies, and churches that supported our community here in Asheville. To give due credit to them, I would like to mention a few. We are thankful for the Family Dollar in our area, especially Miss Pam, for cooking meals for everyone and helping us when we were in need. I would like to express gratitude for the “Be Loved” organization for stocking and supplying our community with food, water, and supplies that we are in much need of, and inspiring my wife and I to give back and “pay it forward” to the next man…
To conclude, I want to present my understanding of the difference between thankfulness and gratitude. In being thankful, I’m expressing my deepest respects for a word, action, gesture, or understanding given me from someone else. In being grateful, I’m expressing my respect of what was given to me by acting and doing the same for someone else.
Be thankful, be gracious, be kind and loving to all this holiday season, and not just during these seasons, but every day.
